Our SMS Opt-In
How We Get Your Permission to Text You
We text our clients about appointments, annual policy reviews, and questions they've asked us about their existing policies. We only do that with permission. This page explains every way we ask for it, exactly what we say when we ask, and how to stop the messages at any time.
You never have to agree to texts to buy a policy, get a quote, or get service from us. Saying no changes nothing about how we take care of you.
1. What we send
Service messages only, about business you already have with us:
- Scheduling and confirming your annual policy review;
- Reminders about an appointment you already have; and
- Replies to questions you asked us about an existing policy or a coverage deadline.
We do not send marketing or promotional texts, and we never sell, rent, or share your mobile number or your opt-in with anyone for their marketing. Please don't use text to report a claim or an emergency — call us at (208) 263-3161 or Idaho Farm Bureau Insurance claims at (888) 432-4527.
2. The three ways you can say yes
a. On this website
Our contact form and our schedule-a-call form each have an optional checkbox under the phone field. It is unchecked by default and you can submit the form without it. The checkbox reads, word for word:
Text me about my policies and appointments (optional). I agree Marks Insurance Agency may send me service texts about appointments, annual policy reviews, and questions about my existing policies at the number above. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies, typically 1–4 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.
If you leave it unchecked, we will not text you. Your request still goes through exactly the same way.
b. In our office
When you buy a policy, make a change, or update your contact information with us in person, we ask whether you'd like us to reach you by text, and we read you the same disclosure:
“Would you like us to text you about appointments and your annual policy review? It's about one to four messages a month, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP any time to stop them. It's completely optional — it isn't required to buy or service a policy.”
If you say yes, the person helping you notes it on your client record along with the date.
c. Over the phone
When you call our office and ask us to follow up, a licensed agent asks the same question, using the same wording as above, and notes your answer and the date on your client record.
3. How to stop the messages
Reply STOP to any message from us. That stops all of them, and the block is automatic and immediate — you'll get one confirmation and nothing after it. You can also call the office at (208) 263-3161 or email jbmarks@idfbins.com and we'll remove you.
Reply HELP to any message for help, or call the office. Changing your mind costs you nothing and does not affect your coverage or your service.
4. Frequency, cost, and delivery
Message frequency varies based on your service activity, typically 1–4 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply, charged by your mobile carrier. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages and delivery isn't guaranteed.
5. Privacy
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Full details are in our Privacy Policy, and the complete program terms are in section 4 of our Terms & Conditions.
